Ecoweek Prishtina 2014 has officially opened on Sunday, October 12th. The main speakers of the opening ceremony were Elias Messinas, the chairman of ECOWEEK and Naser Kabashi, the dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtinaâ€.
Ecoweek Prishtina 2014 has officially opened on Sunday, October 12th. The main speakers of the opening ceremony were Elias Messinas, the chairman of ECOWEEK and Naser Kabashi, the dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtinaâ€.
Naser Kabashi opened the ceremony by sharing the support of the faculty towards the organization and first debut of Ecoweek Prishtina 2014. He highlighted the importance of such eco events in terms of educating and inspiring the future architects. Besides sustainability in architecture, Kabashi also encouraged for sustainability in other fields and aspects of daily lives. He ended with the MVRDV architect, Marta Pozo’s saying that “It is the time to shift from the green dream to the green reality, by encouraging creative and stimulating solutionsâ€.
Elias Messinas initially introduced ECOWEEK, a nongovernmental organization with a network of architects, landscape architects, engineers and designers of more than 45 countries in the world. He shared the concept and goals of ECOWEEK with the audience composed of local and international students, young architects, professors and other citizens concerned with environmental issues in Prishtina. He also congratulated Argjirë Krasniqi, the organizer of Ecoweek Prishtina 2014 and founder of the nongovernmental organization ECOciety, for the initiative taken to make Prishtina/Kosovo part of the ECOWEEK Network. “It takes a lot of initiative and daring to organize such events†said Messinas, while emphasizing the great amount of work done by the organizing team and volunteers of Ecoweek Prishtina 2014. He also concluded his speech saying this event is an opportunity for gaining knowledge on eco designs and trying to do something real for the city.
In the end, Krasniqi thanked the dean, ECOWEEK chairmen, supporting partners, lecturers, students, the organizing team and volunteers for making Ecoweek Prishtina 2014 possible, and declared the event open.
